HI, I'M HELAINA!

International Women’s Day at Thorpe Manor

Mar 26, 2019

Helaina Storey Wedding Design were privileged to be invited to Thorpe Manor in beautiful Oxfordshire this month to celebrate International Women’s Day and the #balanceforbetter campaign.

I am so incredibly proud and honoured to work in a female dominated industry, brimming with so much support and encouragement for one another. This day was about recognising that, being inspired and soaking in all that stunning Thorpe Manor has to offer.

Apart from a beautiful setting and charming features, I believe one of the most important requirements of a fabulous wedding venue is delightful, passionate, professional owners with vision, who know exactly what their couples are looking for. Natasha and Henry are just that. They have lovingly renovated this stunning grade II listed Georgian country manor house across 2.5 years, without a single detail left unconsidered. They have thought of absolutely everything, keeping the guest experience at the forefront of every single decision they’ve made through the process.

The interiors are just magical and complete with cinema room, games room, pool house, endless grounds and options for ceremonies and dining, butlers and housekeepers, hot tub, gym and croquet lawn, Thorpe Manor is nothing short of perfection for an exclusive use, long wedding weekend. The very best kind of celebration, in my opinion!

On arrival, we were greeted by a dreamy cloud of gypsophila suspended over the entrance and the coolest female (of course!) butler, who looked like she had just stepped out of a Chanel campaign in Vogue. We were treated to a tour of the venue and all it has to offer. Everything from the choice of wall colours and soft furnishings to the bath salts by the original bathtub exuded luxury comfort, which was exactly what Natasha and Henry had set out to achieve.

After this, we joined lovely Pia of Vanilla Pod Bakery for a patisserie tutorial, followed by a wonderful flower arranging masterclass with the incredibly talented Jess of Tiger by the Tail, where I was lucky enough to bag one of her beautiful pieces to take home with me!

Next, we got to taste the culinary delights provided by Indulgence Boutique as our glasses were topped with Champagne by the attentive team of waiting staff, before enjoying an inspirational talk by the mind blowing cake artist, Rosalind Miller about how she started her fabulous business with just £50 and now designs unique cakes for clients as far as Dubai! No challenge too big for this fabulous lady! A true inspiration.

Such an honour to be part of this day and I cannot wait to recommend this glorious new venue to our couples! Fingers crossed we will be planning our first wedding here for some very lucky nearly-weds very soon.
